What's happening at Honingham
We are currently watering some of our cereal crops before the emphasis turns to keeping the fast emerging onions and potato crops well watered. We have two dedicated teams working around the clock to maximise the efficiency of our irrigators.
Our new 40 Million Gallon Reservoir is now finished and ready to go. It gives us added water security and together with the km of underground main enables us to water hectares as well as neighbouring land. We are licensed to fill it over the winter months so the impact on the biodiversity of the River Yare is minimised
New Tractors Arrive- It has been an exciting week on the farm due to the arrival of 5 new John Deere 6R Series Tractors. Ranging from 150hp to 210hp they are useful additions to our fleet. We are proud to be investing in the latest technology, using Starfire GPS they will improve the efficiency of operations.

The break in the weather and timely cultivations have created ideal condtions for getting the Spring Barley drilled. Paul's 450 Case Quadtrac has 500hp and with the Vaderstad Rapid-A 8m Jumbo drill can soon get the job done. The 6000 litre seed hopper means downtime refilling is few and far between.
Cultivations- As soon as the beet harvester has passed, attention is turned to getting the land ploughed over and ready for the powerharrow drill. Pictured right and below are the two Case Quadtracs once again making light work of the task in hand.
Ploughing turns and aerates the soil. It also buries weeds and crop residues creating the ideal start for the following winter wheat crop. Armed with the 11 furrow Kverneland plough Paul can soon cover the ground.
